Your Guide to Summer in Agoura Hills

One of the things I love about Agoura Hills is that summer doesn't feel overplanned.
We don't have one huge festival that takes over the calendar. Instead, summer is made up of all the little traditions that become part of your week. A Sunday evening concert, a Thursday farmers market, a Saturday morning stroll through Whizin, or live music at The Canyon on a Friday night.
Everything is close by, easy to get to, and makes it feel like you're always just a few minutes away from something fun.
If there's one event that truly feels like an Agoura Hills tradition, it's the Summer Concerts in the Park at Chumash Park (5550 Medea Valley Drive).
Every concert begins at 6:00 PM and is free to attend (a $2 donation is suggested). Food trucks are available, so all you really need to bring is a blanket or a couple of lawn chairs.

The July 5 concert is especially worth planning around. Official schedules have listed different opening acts over the past few months, but what hasn't changed is the drone show that follows the concert. My recommendation is to arrive early, grab dinner from one of the food trucks, and stay through sunset.
If you haven't checked out Ladyface Marketplace yet, this is the summer to do it.
Every Thursday from 4:30 PM to 8:30 PM, the marketplace at 5050 Cornell Road comes alive with local vendors offering fresh produce, flowers, baked goods, handmade gifts, candles, soaps, specialty foods, and more.
To me, this doesn't feel like running errands. It feels like an easy weeknight outing. Grab dinner, wander the booths, support a few local businesses, and enjoy being outside before the weekend even starts.
The city also encourages using the AH GO subsidized Lyft program or parking nearby at Whizin Market Square.
The Saturday Farmers Market at Whizin Market Square isn't going anywhere.
Located at 28914 Roadside Drive, it's still one of my favorite weekend stops for fresh produce and local vendors.
The Thursday and Saturday markets really serve different purposes.
Thursday is perfect when you're picking up dinner or meeting a friend after work.
Saturday is when you stock the fridge for the week.
Both are worth adding to your routine.

One thing I love is how easy it is to pair these weekends with everything else happening around town. You could spend Sunday at Chumash Park one week and catch a show at The Canyon the next without ever leaving Agoura.
Before summer slips away, there's one fall event I'd recommend putting on your calendar now.
Night at the Adobe returns on Friday, October 2 at the historic Reyes Adobe.

Advance tickets are $20, and if you've never been, it's one of those uniquely Agoura Hills events that always feels special.
If you've driven the 101 recently, you've probably watched the Wallis Annenberg Wildlife Crossing slowly take shape.
This fall marks another major milestone as thousands of native plants are added to the bridge, bringing the project closer to completion.
It's exciting to think that something we've watched being built for years is finally beginning to look like the natural landscape it was designed to become. One that will help protect local wildlife for generations.
If I had to describe an ideal summer here, it'd probably look something like this.
Thursday evening at Ladyface Marketplace.
A Friday or Saturday show at The Canyon.
Sunday night at Chumash Park with a blanket and food truck dinner.
A Saturday morning farmers market run.
An afternoon community concert in July.
And Night at the Adobe waiting on the calendar when fall arrives.
That's what I love most about living here.
Summer in Agoura Hills isn't about one big event.
